they are cheap nowadays. i got my domain and webspace through fatcow and ive been very pleased. unlimited space and transfer, and a domain for a year for about 70 bucks. as with all webhosting, pricing gets significantly cheaper when you buy multiple years at once (i think it was under 150 for 3 years)
